The Story of the Quadruple Warning - F2 Round 5

Updated: 2 days ago

ree

Welcome to the 5th F2 race report of Season 12, where we entered the middle third of the season at the historic Autodromo Nazionale Monza, racing at the same time as the FIA calendar. We also raced at the same track as the F1 divisions since the opening weekend, and driver's were able to learn the track and all it's defects. In specific the 2nd Lesmo corner, which seemed to throw up multiple warnings at time during the races, in some cases 4 at once! Here's how it went down in Italy!

Ticket # 106 - Lap 2 incident involving LSJ Rundle & SLR Medal2533

Verdict: 5s + 2LP to SLR Medal2533

Ticket # 112 - Lap 3 incident involving Nightowl0208735 & MacAttack

Verdict: 5s + 2LP to MacAttack

Detail: MacAttack comes from a car back into turn 1 attempting an overtake on Pluto and causes a collision at the apex with Nightowl, resulting in him being spun.

Ticket # 107 - Lap 14 incident involving Joseeeph F1 - penalty removal request

Verdict: Penalty reduced to 5 seconds. 5 seconds removed from Joseph's time.

Detail: Even though it is clear that Joseph does cut the corner, it is clear that he has made an effort to slow down in order to avoid a penalty. Therefore the stewards have decided to reduce the penalty rather than to have the penalty stand.

Ticket # 108 - Lap 2 incident involving SLR Corey - penalty removal request

Verdict: Penalty Stands (appealed, 3 seconds removed)

Detail: Insufficient evidence was given by Corey here - there is no proof from the clip given that the warning was a double warning as it does not show the rest of the lap before the warning, so the stewards were unable to determine whether this was a double warning at one corner, or if he received an earlier warning in the lap. If Corey has the sufficient evidence to prove this then the stewards will be happy to remove this in an appeal.

Ticket # 109 - Lap 7 incident involving Cayden Easton & SLR Medal2533

Verdict: 5s + 1LP to SLR Medal2533

Detail: Medal forces Cayden into a spin at turn 1 after misjudging a late move.

Ticket # 110 - Multiple Laps involving OwenHowell36 - penalty removal requests

Verdict: 7 warnings removed, and such 6 seconds removed from OwenHowell36

Detail: The stewards agreed that Owen received 7 unjust warnings from the race and such decided to remove these. The warning on Lap 3, as well as 3 of the 4 warnings given on Laps 10 and 12. Good Game. This leaves Owen with 3 warnings in total rather than 10.

Ticket # 111 - Lap 15 incident involving Goggy - penalty removal request.

Verdict: Penalty stands

Detail: whilst Goggy goes deep because he has less car control with the puncture, he clearly gains significant time from the corner cut (partly due to the slower speed he would have taken the corner with the puncture) and makes no attempt to slow down to make up for the time gained.

That is all for this week, as always, if you would like to appeal an incident that involved you, you have 24 hours to do so. See you on the 18th as we begin our Silverstone double header, starting with racing the track the normal way round in a regular weekend format, before we do a 100% reversed race the following week. See you back home!
