Luck Runs Out in Vegas! F1 Round 3

Welcome to the 3rd F1 race report for Season 3, as we head to the Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada and the Las Vegas Strip Circuit. We've raced here in 2 previous seasons before, and every race has had a different winner so far. Will this remain the case for this weekend? There have been some standout performers in the first couple rounds, but will their luck run out in the City of Second Chances before we have our first break week of the season?

Ticket # 82 - Lap 20/21 incident involving SLR Jam40 & Drastik Blaze

Verdict: 5s + 2LP to Drastik Blaze (converted to 3LP due to DNF)

Detail: The stewards have decided that 3LP to Blaze is the correct outcome for this incident. The initial move on the straight was a bit too late and so was a bit naughty, but the locking of the rears causing damage to Jam is the main reason for the penalty.

Ticket # 83 - Lap 14 incident involving OBOALF RACING & THATGUY691244

Verdict: 5s + 1LP to THATGUY691244

Detail: From the clips provided to the stewards, it looked like THATGUY locked up the brakes going into turn 1 whilst Oboalf was adapting his line to attempt an overtake on the car in front. Because of this they have collided and Oboalf was sent for a spin, and THATGUY is deemed at fault for this collision.

Ticket # 84 - Lap 1 incident involving LTKtarrierYT, OBOALF RACING & Franktank214955

Verdict: 3s + 1LP to Franktank214955

Detail: Frank has followed the racing line around the corner without noticing that there are 2 cars alongside him, and so has pinched Tarrier into Oboalf causing a three-way crash. As the stewards deemed Frank at fault for this, a small penalty has been applied.

Ticket # 85 - Lap 1 incident involving M1niko & BalmyTick395524

Verdict: 5s + 1LP to BalmyTick395524

Detail: This is a very similar incident to that of the previous ticket, however the stewards feel that the movement from Balmy was much worse and he had no regard on the car alongside when moving sides of the track, pinning M1niko against the wall and causing damage.

Ticket # 86 - Lap 1 incident involving M1niko & Goggy

Verdict: 5s + 1LP to Goggy (2LP due to DNF)

Detail: The stewards agreed that Goggy initiated the contact on exit which sends M1niko round after having nowhere to go. Goggy should have been more careful here and given more space on the exit.

Ticket # 74 - Lap 1 incident involving GSRHaze & RIPbrannin21

Verdict: 5s + 1LP to RIPbrannin21

Detail: Brannin enters the slow section of the circuit at way too high a speed, especially considering it is Lap 1, and causes a collision with Haze, spinning her around.

Ticket # 75 - Lap 9 incident involving GoldenEggFryer & J Lee Menz

Verdict: No Further Action

Detail: a SC is deployed just before the final braking zone of the track, giving both Menz and Fryer an extremely harsh delta. Menz realises that he will get a drive through if he doesn't slow down and so he does this. At this point, Fryer is over a second behind him. However, Fryer is unfortunately caught out due to being slightly unsighted due to the blind corer and spins due to slamming his brakes on to avoid contact with Menz.

The stewards believe that Menz should not be penalised for this because Fryer is 8 tenths in the red on his delta at the moment of the incident, so they believe he should have slowed more before this point already. And in addition to this, they feel that Menz gave Fryer ample time to react, and Menz had no choice due to the delta to slow down.

Ticket # 76 - Lap 1 incident involving BadOtterTV & multiple drivers

Verdict: 10s + 3LP to BadOtterTV (qualifying ban due to DNF)

Detail: BadOtter misses his braking point into turn 1 giving 2 drivers dmage and spinning them. BadOtter did not finish the race so this is a 10 second penalty converted to a qualifying ban due to the severity of the incident.

Ticket # 77 - Lap 22 incident involving milanist_EME & WillyBum7

Verdict: No Further Action

Detail: this is a small bit of wheel-banging on the striaght from milanist & WillyBum. Neither driver is fully to blame for this.

Ticket # 79 - Lap 23 incident involving COLDEN3335 & Fredbono_23

Verdict: 5s + 1LP to Fredbono_23

Detail: The stewards believe that this should be a penalty for Fred as Colden doesn't really close the gap but Fred just about sticks his nose in, clipping Colden and spinning him round. Minimal contact but Fred is clearly at fault for spinning Colden in this incident.

Ticket # 80 - Lap 11 incident involving SLR Hicklin & Rico_AV

Verdict: No Further Action

Detail: Hicklin makes a move up the inside of Rico but Rico brakes later and is able to hold it side by side. However, Hicklin touches the left hand kerb which causes him to make minor contact with Rico, sending him wide. This then sends both driers on an unavoidable collision course with very little time to back out, until they hook wheels and end up in the wall. No party was fully to blame for this incident at a corner that is tricky to go side-by-side in, so the stewards have declared this a racing incident.

And that is all for this week as we returned to Las Vegas for the 3rd time, and we had another 3 different winners at the circuit, which means we're now 9 different winners from 9 races at Vegas! Congratulations to all those with strong performances. Welcome to the league to this week's debutants in PENROSE_86 & Fredbono_23, the 648th and 649th different drivers in SLR history.

We have a short break now as we have a week off next weekend to commemorate the Callum McKeon Memorial Football Tournament on Sunday 3rd August, however F2 will still be racing on 31st July at Japan so make sure to get involved for you weekly SLR fix! F1 returns on 8th August as we return back home to the wonderful Silverstone circuit! Here's what we could see happen in Northamptonshire in two weeks' time...

... LSW L3G3ND44 (32nd) could reach 700 points if they score 12 points.

... Gregers UK (34th) could reach 700 points if they score 23 points.

... I CJT22 I (151st) could reach 200 points if they score 8 points.
