Absence of Anarchy in Abu Dhabi - F1 Round 7

We're almost at the mid-point of the season and this week we return to a track which normally sees itself as a Season Finale circuit, however over the last few seasons its position in the SLR calendar has changed. Welcome to the Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix! So much drama has taken place at this circuit over the years, and this weekend it seemed we were slightly on the cleaner side... for now. Here's what happened in the UAE!

Qualifying Incident involving Drastik Blaze & Multiple Drivers

Verdict: No Further Action

Detail: The stewards agreed that they did not believe that there was a clear block, and such no driver was to be penalised. They could understand that he might have been distracted by Karim weaving ahead and Rundle at the chicane, however they did not feel that either car affected Blaze's lap.

Lap 1 incident involving LSJRundle & MattCoper97

Verdict: 5s + 2LP to LSJRundle

Detail: The stewards were of the opinion here that Matt was entitled to have space here being more than enough alongside him, however Rundle turned to the apex expecting him not to attempt the move.

Lap 10 incident involving GoldenEggFryer & THATGUY691244

Verdict: No Further Action

Detail: Whilst this was certainly an unorthodox way to make the overtake, especially when he had a lot of the inside of the track to do this overtake, the stewards agreed that THATGUY makes the move cleanly, without going completely off track, and doesn't affect the moment that they had at the chicane.

Lap 1 incident involving LRS-Karl & matty1929

Verdict: No Further Action

Detail: The stewards agreed that this was unfortunate for Karl as for Matty, his car was a ghost and such the collision should not have happened. As his car was a ghost they felt that it would be unfair to penalise Matty here. They will however remind all drivers to treat ghosted cars like they are not to avoid such a collision if this glitch happens again.

Lap 27 incident involving LRS-Karl & I CJT22 I

Verdict: No Further Action

Detail: The stewards unanimously agreed that although CJT did move when he was braking, he was far enough ahead not to affect Karl.

... DC80 BRITGRIT & ZZG-SpeedyB both took part in their maiden SLR races this Saturday in Division 3, making them the 695th and 696th different drivers in SLR history respectively.
